Hunt Savvy training day 2012

Our “Hunt Savvy” Training day happens once a year in the fall. On this day we don’t focus at all on the technical side of retriever training. But instead work on putting the dogs through a series of stations designed to prepare the dog for the hunting scenarios they are likely to encounter in the coming hunting season so that both dog and handler are more prepared on opening day. This year we did a marsh duck hunt off of a dog stand – complete with decoys and mojos, a boat duck hunt, a field goose hunt – complete with layout blinds and dog blinds and a simulated pheasant hunt.
